Why? Because Robots rock, that's why. Robots are like super-heroes without all the spandex.

A Walk in the Park

Amy and Cameron took advantage of the nice weather today and met up with some other moms/kids to walk the trails at a nearby park.

Makin' a Pizza Pie

The baby-sitters daughter was selling these Little Caesars pizza kits for a school fund raiser, so Amy was nice and bought one.  Cameron really wanted to help make the pizza, so Amy agreed.  It turns out that Cameron’s idea of helping mostly consisted of eating the cheese while Amy did everything and he watched tv.
It tasted about like you’d expect a fund-raiser pizza kit to taste, but it was fun to make and it helped raise money for the kids/school/whatever…

Halloween Recap

We had a really great Halloween this year.
It’s amazing how much better it is when you live in a house, versus an apartment.  Tons of people were out in the neighborhood.  Everywhere you looked there were parents out walking around, trick-or-treating and having a lot of fun.  Our street in particular seemed to be a pretty happening place.  There was a haunted house, a pot-luck, and a barbeque.

Chris and Kim came over to hang out with us, and so did our friends Paul and Larisa with their baby girl.  We spent the entire evening hanging out on the porch, having a few drinks and chatting it up.  I don’t think we made it inside until nearly 2am.
I think Cameron had a lot of fun.  He and his Uncle Chris were both dressed as Star Wars characters.  I think he really like seeing all his friends from school out in the streets.  The laughed and played and compared costumes.

We voted on our favorite costume that evening, and it was unanimous.  My neighbor Sheldon, who’s from India, was dressed as a Native American with a big feather headdress.  When I saw him, I just laughed.  He said, “I’m an Indian, LITERALLY!!!”
To top it all off, the weather couldn’t have been any better.  It was in the low 70’s, and there were no bugs out that night, so it was a perfect evening to hang out outside.

I’m definitely looking forward to next year.

Dillan's 1st birthday party

Dillan’s birthday was last Tuesday, so we had a bunch of family and friends over to celebrate this weekend. I think everyone had a pretty good time.

We had a bunch of food, like crab dip, bacon-wrapped scallops, BBQ meatballs, pigs in a blanket, and a veggie tray. I mixed up some punch with blueberry vodka, sour mix, and sprite with frozen mixed berries. Chris and Kim were nice enough to bring over some devilled eggs and a variety of beers.

Oh, and I made Dillan a pickle cake. For those that don’t know, my Dad gave Dillan the nickname “Dillan Pickles” and it just kind of stuck. So now he’s often referred to as Pickle or Pickles. Cameron had a few friends over from the neighborhood and his school. They all played upstairs in the playroom.

Family showed up from all over, like my Mom from Vegas, Amy’s Dad from West Virginia, and more of her family from NoVa. By the end of the day I think nearly 30 people had shown up. Dillan ended up with a pile of gifts, all of which I’m sure he’ll enjoy. Thanks everybody!

Thanks to Regina, Kim, and my Mom for all the help. Also, thanks to everyone else for showing up and having a good time with us.

Installed a soap dispencer

See and download the full gallery on posterous

The touchless electric soap dispencer that my parents got us for Christmas last year finally died, so I went to Lowe’s (again) and picked up this sink-mounted dispencer. The sink wasn’t predrilled so I got a 1” drill bit also. As it turns out, I should’ve gotten a 1 1/8” bit instead, but I just ended up using the Dremel to open it up a little bit. Anyway, it was easy to install and it looks a lot better than a big bottle of dish soap sitting on the counter.

Exciting stuff, I know…
